Erin Shearin’s diverse creative practice comes from her many interactions with amazing mentors including Daniel McCormick, Candace Garlock, Robert Morrison, Rick Parsons, Jared Stanley, Roman de Salvo and Sameer Farooq.  Erin has attended several of the schools in the Nevada System of Higher Education including Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) where her journey began.  After completing her Associates in Fine Arts, she was accepted into the BFA program at the University of Nevada, Reno.  She completed her BFA in 2015. She then received her MFA-IA from Sierra Nevada College.  Erin’s education journey has come full circle as she is now an adjunct instructor at TMCC where she teaches Art 100, Visual Foundations.  “I am happy to call this place home because if it were not for TMCC and its amazing faculty, I would not have been able to attend college.”

Erin’s work consists of performance art, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, watercolor, drawing, and cataloging.  Her focus is often on subject matter which draws the viewer in and forces them to evaluate what is in front of them.  Topics have included climate change, evolution, science and the darker side of the human condition.  While her subject matter can be dark and heavy, her choice of materials nuance a more delicate subtle beauty with humor interspersed to provide the viewer levity.  Erin has exhibited her work in the Truckee Meadows and received several accolades and grants.  Her current body of work focus on the human condition and the interaction with everyday objects.
